Academic Adjustments That May Not Be Appropriate

To determine an appropriate academic adjustment, °ÄÃÅÌØÂí½ñÍí¿ª½±'s Student Disability Services professionals will review your request based on the essential requirements for the relevant program. It is important to remember that °ÄÃÅÌØÂí½ñÍí¿ª½± is not required to lower or waive essential requirements.

Examples that generally may not be deemed appropriate academic adjustments could include:

  • Unlimited time on tests
  • Breaks during tests
  • Fewer numbers of items on tests or assignments
  • Less rigorous content on tests or assignment items
  • Other changes in the essential requirements of a class or program
  • NOTE: Appropriate academic adjustments are effective from the date the Accommodation Plan is issued forward, and are not retroactive
